Here are the details for my date:

Date & Time: September 20th, 7:30pm

Location: Indigo Manulife Centre, 55 Bloor Street West, Toronto, ON

Event format: Q&A with Heather followed by a short Q&A with the audience

The event is open to the public. If you’re able to come, please stop by and introduce yourself.

I was taking the subway home after work at my day job, and in the paper I was reading I noticed an ad for the entrepreneur series at Indigo – featuring Sandra! I looked at the time and realized that if I made a slight detour I could make it just in time, so I hopped off the subway and headed to Indigo.

Having recently started Belly Babies (infant and toddler clothing, www.bellybabies.ca) with my mompreneur friend, I found your story very inspirational. As we have just started out in the past year, we have taken our product to a few of small craft shows, and for a while, even joined a designer coop store so that we could gauge the response from our potential customers. Happily, the response so far has been great and we are interested at this point in trying out a trade show. Can you recommend a good trade show (particulary in Toronto or Ontario)? Would you say that this route is the best way to get into retailer stores, or would you advise cold calling?

Leah.
In Canada we don't have any specialized kids show. Many Canadian retailers (kids boutiques) don't even bother going to the gift shows in Canada, they go straight to US specialized kids show to find new stuff. There is tons of media at those shows looking for new product, that's how we got our new product featured in few national magazine. You'll never see American Baby or Parenting magazine at the Toronto gift show.
